Ducati 48

I don't like to repost from other bike blogs, but this is just too beautiful. The lines and stance on this Ducati could not flow any better.

Fall Ride

Unseasonably warm today so made the best of it. Took Ryans DRZ out and hit some backroads after breakfast at the Vanilla Bean Cafe in CT.

RD400 Build

Powdercoated some parts for the RD yesterday at the speed lab south over a handful of beers and whiskey. Did the gauge cups, rotor hats, master cyl, clutch perch, rear brake carrier, and front caliper. I'm going to make a new rear brake brace out of aluminum so no need to powdercoat that.

Next up will be getting the wheels coated and new rubber and bearings installed, and get the forks polished and rebuilt.

RD400 Build

I got a  new buffing setup for the speed lab. A lot of parts on this build will be polished so it was a necessary addition. I pulled the front caliper apart and it looks decent. Some pitting on the pistons but not too bad. I should be able to clean them up. I was surprised at how heavy the calipers were. I'd love to replace them with some lighter units. I have some stock FZR calipers but don't know if they'll clear the wheels. I'll have to pull one disc off my FZR and see how everything fits up. Anyone know of any vintage race calipers that might be much lighter and work for this application? (and not cost me $400)?

I think this is a hard bike to make really trick, but when you get it spot on it looks awesome.

Last Ride Of The Season

Toy run in southeastern CT with a thousand or so bikes, then some amazing back road carving home into RI. Follow that up with beer and ribs and you've got a successful end to the season. Time for mods, builds, and waiting for spring.

RD400 Build

I designed a gauge panel and printed out a template scaled 1:1. I fabbed and mounted it today. I don't know what I'm going to use for the indicator lamps yet so I left it blank for now.
